The copper flashing creates a type of bang that only this banjo produces and it is very desirable for that reason. The shell is a 3 ply hard rock maple shell. The hardware is nickel with copper flashing.

Blackjack, originally released in 1969 as Ramblin' Boy, is one of bluegrass' first responses to California country rock. Of course, there's plenty of traditional fare here, including a cover of Flatt and Scruggs' beautiful 'Bouquet in Heaven.' But there's also a stunning take on the Flying Burrito Brothers' 'Sin City,' which feels so natural, so archaic that you'd never guess it was written by a couple of 20-something hippies just several months earlier. The Burritos must've loved this cover.
